Baltimore, MD – After years of dedicated effort and unwavering commitment to the rights of small businesses in the Maryland hemp industry, and fighting for the cause of economic freedom, part one of the long-awaited documentary Weed Wars: Maryland's Monopoly and the Fight for Free Markets is finally complete. Directed by Nicholas Patrick and brought to life through the lens of Jordan Lynam of Lynam Up Media, this powerful film dives deep into the heart of Maryland's controversial cannabis industry.

Weed Wars part one sheds light on the intense struggle between small hemp businesses and the state's monopolistic practices, offering a unique perspective on the broader implications for social justice, economic liberty, and the ongoing battle for a fair and open cannabis market. Through a compelling blend of personal narratives, expert interviews, and firsthand accounts, the documentary presents an unprecedented look into the challenges and injustices faced by those at the forefront of Maryland's cannabis reform.

Nicholas Patrick, a Baltimore resident, not only directed the film but also played a pivotal role in the narrative, drawing on his personal experiences and connections within the community to highlight the human aspect of this complex issue. With interviews from some of the Hemp Industry's biggest advocates, like JD McCormick from the American Healthy Alternatives Association, Daniel Simmonds from Georgetown Hemp; Levi Sellers from Sustain Bioceuticals and South Mountain MicroFarm; and Derek Spruill from Cherry Blossom Hemp, as well as the lead attorney in the lawsuit against the State of Maryland, Nevin Young, this film highlights the perspectives of those on the front lines of the battle for free and fair markets.

Jordan Lynam's cinematography and image creation expertly captures the emotional depth and urgency of the movement, bringing the audience closer to the realities of the fight for cannabis freedom in Maryland. His work has been instrumental in ensuring that the film's message resonates with viewers, compelling them to consider the broader implications of the state's cannabis policies.

Weed Wars is not just a film; it's a call to action. It challenges viewers to rethink their perceptions of cannabis legalization, the power dynamics at play, and the importance of economic freedom in shaping a just and equitable society. The documentary serves as a rallying cry for advocates of cannabis reform, highlighting the importance of community, solidarity, and persistence in the face of adversity.

The filmmakers extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in the making of Weed Wars, including the brave individuals who shared their stories, the experts who provided their insights, and the countless supporters who have stood by this project. This film is a tribute to their collective efforts and a reminder that the fight for justice and freedom is far from over.

Weed Wars: Maryland's Monopoly and the Fight for Free Markets is a crucial addition to the discourse on cannabis reform, offering a nuanced and compelling narrative that underscores the need for change. As the documentary begins its journey to reach audiences far and wide, the filmmakers are hopeful that it will ignite conversations, inspire action, and contribute to the ongoing movement for a more equitable and free cannabis industry in Maryland and beyond.

Part 2 titled "The Social Equity Illusion" is set to be released in March 2024.
